Twinsburg and the Creek That Feeds the Cuyahoga
Hydroseeding in Twinsburg takes place in the upper part of the Tinkers Creek watershed. Tinkers Creek rises near Streetsboro and flows through Twinsburg Township and Twinsburg before heading toward Bedford and the Cuyahoga. It is the largest tributary of the Cuyahoga River and supplies about a third of the flow that river carries to Lake Erie.
Glacial till and wet ground
Glacial till laid down about 12,000 years ago covers the upper watershed, and it is the reason for the marshes, swamps and bogs found there. On a lawn, that same till shows up as heavy soil that stays wet in spring. We look for the wet corners first and decide whether regrading or extra topsoil is needed before seeding.
Downstream stakes
Downstream, the Tinkers Creek gorge in Bedford was named a National Natural Landmark in 1967. Sediment from Twinsburg yards and building sites eventually travels that way. On any job with exposed soil we put up silt fence or wattles on the low side and protect nearby storm inlets.
A city that doubled in the 1990s
Twinsburg's population went from 9,606 in 1990 to 17,006 in 2000. Lawns from that era are now about 25 to 35 years old. Many have settled spots, compacted areas and tired grass, which makes them good candidates for core aeration plus hydroseed overseeding.
Commercial and light industrial
Twinsburg sits midway between Akron and Cleveland and has plenty of business and industrial land. We seed new building sites, retention ponds and road shoulders, and handle the sediment control that local plans require.
Midway timing
At about 974 feet, Twinsburg warms in spring a little slower than the lakeshore. We plan most seeding for mid-spring or late summer.

Twinsburg Questions
Why is my Twinsburg yard so wet in April?
The upper Tinkers Creek watershed is covered in glacial till that holds water. Grading and topsoil help more than extra seed.
Is my 1990s lawn worth saving?
Usually yes. Aeration, top-dressing low spots and overseeding can bring it back for far less than new lawn installation.
Do residential jobs need silt fence?
If bare soil can wash to a street or ditch, a short run is a good idea. We size it to the job.
Can you seed new commercial lots in Twinsburg?
Yes, along with inlet protection and basin seeding.
